Air India Flight Dubai-Kozhikode Crashes At Karipur Airport, First Pictures Of The Spot Here

A/dropcap]ir India plane crashed at Karipur Airport in Kozhikode. The plane was landing at the airport. The plane has been severely damaged. It was a Dubai-Kozhikode Air India flight number IX-1344. The cockpit and cabin have suffered extensive damage. Deepak Sathe, the pilot of the plane has died in the crash. It was raining heavily at the time of the accident. The runway that the plane was landing on was not too long. There were 191 passengers on-board including the flight crew. The crash took place between 7:30 and 7:45 pm on Friday evening.
The rescue effort is on. 30-40 people have been admitted to hospital.

As the plane crashed, the first 5 rows of seats suffered extensive damage. It is being reported that it is highly unlikely that passengers seated in these rows would survive the crash. Till now 11 people have died, four people are still stuck in the debris states Kerala DGP. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been rushed to the spot and DG SN Pradhan said that all passengers have suffered injuries even as some are unconscious. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan instructed Police and Fire Force to take urgent action in the wake of the plane crash at the Kozhikode International airport (CCJ) in Karipur. “Have also directed the officials to make necessary arrangements for rescue and medical support,” he said.
