Lions Club Of Colaba President Ratan Adwani Comes Forward To Support Cancer Patients During COVID19 Crisis

Ratan Adwani, Lions Club Colaba District number 3231A1, shares the charitable activity of Lions with Hello India News Team.

Lions Club across the universe, are rolling up their sleeves and swinging into action. With over 1.4 million members, they are rated to be the largest service organization in the world.

Speaking to Hello India News Team over the phone, Ratan Adwani, said amid this Covid-19 induced lockdown, she and her group members have been helping cancer patients with medical aid and sending them for their treatment. They have also distributed sanitizers and masks. Besides, they also help “Prem Daan” by giving them food every 15 days. They are also helping needy people by depositing money in their bank accounts. She also runs a Municipal Clinic near her house. So people who are in need of food, stand in a queue in the morning and they are provided with food and necessary products. Prior to the Lockdown they have undertaken many Charity project have a Health Clinic near VT, South Mumbai. Here they carry activities like blood test and physiotherapy from Monday to Saturday every week. They also carry out 10 cataract surgery for people every month at Bachuali Eye Hospital in Parel. This process has been active even amid lockdown.

She also reiterated that they celebrate birthday of children at Cankids Canshala School, Parel. They arrange customized birthday cakes and play games with them. They held one of the biggest programs in the month of March on Women’s Day by organizing a program for honoring 10 ladies and awarded for their achievements in life and all the good work they have done. They also contribute funds to Abu Siddique Hospital at Mohammed Ali road helping dialysis patient. And they provide groceries to people who are living in Red Zone area. They have eye clinic where they do free eye check-ups and provide glasses at reasonable rates.

On her personal views on covid-19 she feels terrible for those people who can’t afford food in this situation. It’s going to a hard time for them. She loves to help people as much she can. According to her she is not satisfied with government Agencies as they are not providing proper information to people living in the society, poor people and workers. People are getting wrong information. It is her wish to be more organized and wants people to stay home and help as many people who are in trouble.

Brief Introduction on Lions Club:

Lions Club was started by a Parsi gentleman and was the first club came to India known as lion Club of Bombay (host). Ratan Adwani is past President Lions Club of Bombay (Host). She was a member of Lions Club from 10 years. Her husband is member of Lions Club since 45 years.

This Club comprises 48 members. On 1st of July the Board Committee of Lions Club will be changing and new committee members will be taking charge and hand over all the issues and help people.

She said in this lockdown she and her group members are helping cancer patients with medical aid and sending them for their treatment in this lockdown period.

They have also distributed sanitizers and masks. They also help school “Prem Daan” school because their parents and give food and provide them food every 15 days. They also help needy people by monetary terms by sending money in their bank accounts. She also runs a Municipal Clinic near her house. People who are in need in food stand in a queue at morning and they are provided with food and necessary products.
