Rotary club of Mahakali Heights Steps forward to support lockdown affected people amid pandemic

2. Ofcourse the requirements of hospitals in mumbai was huge. Sensing that, our club applied for Rotary Global grant for over rupees 40Lakhs. This initiative was spearheaded by past president Mr.Ahluwalia. Pleased to mention that several hospitals and Frontline workers like police were given PPE kits,masks, sanitizers etc.

3. By July20, it came to light that many daily wage earners had lost jobs.Many had no money to buy food. Our district 3141 launched program to distribute 1million meals in the month. Our club supported this program and sponsored 5000 meals and contributed rupees 75000/- for this campaign.

5. In Nov20,we received info that several poorest of the poor people in Vikramgad, distt Palghar were suffering due to hunger and cold weather. Our club raised funds thru donation drive and distributed foodgrain packets, blankets, warm clothes to over a hundred people.
6. Recently our club received a request frm Holy Spirit hospital. We handed over 5 wheel chairs to the hospital given by Mrs Pinky Rajgarhiya. She leads Chingari foundation which is a group of youngsters who r a great help in distributing items such as food, foodgrains etc.

Notably, Rotary Club is an active and vibrant Club that aids the poor and needy people even in nature’s calamity.

In the 1st Outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic’, Rotary Club ensured

Its helping hand in distribution .If essential items to the needy and poor.

Amid this Covid-19 2nd Wave pandemic, everyone is going through dilemmas and the Rotary Club are trying to minimise it

Needless to mention Rotary Club y have accomplished numerous significant social projects in medical, vocational, educational, and many other areas of endeavor.

In the midst of  this Pandemic, they are providing benefits to the needy ones.

Even in the 1st Wave of the pandemic Rotary Club have risen to the grim situation and dustributed essential items to the needy and poor.

Now, with the 2nd Wave proving dangerous and spreading like a wild fire and with many people placed  in precarious situation particularly with non-availibity of required medicines.

Brief Introduction of Club :

Rotary club of Mahakali heights (RCBMH) was formed about six years back with just four founder members. Initial years were formative with conceptual discussions reg our mission, identifying more members(membership is by invitation), Financials, Opening of bank account, following Rotary guidelines etc. The club came into its element in its third year when we started doing social “projects”. The members strongly believe in “Seva”. This ,in a way ,has become our USP. For the last four years ,we been doing apprx 100 projects every year. Geographically, our projects r in Vikramgad, distt.Palghar (Rural) as well as in Mumbai (Urban). In Vikramgad we have forged relationships wth people there which helps immensely in getting authentic info which ensures help reaches the really needy people. Also ,we prefer buying things locally to help Rural economy. In Vikramgad, we have renovated school toilets, distributed blankets, distributed foodgrains and other things. In Mumbai, we r renovating Pragati school, Vikhroli. This school is for Special children . Three phases of work is over.The last phase4 is planned to start in July-Aug21.Planning for same is being done currently. Special mention must b made regarding overcoming covid19 challenges. Soon aftr lockdown was announced in March20, the club received SOS frm St.George hospital. We quickly raised funds and supplied apprx 4Lakhs worth of PPE kits, Masks , thermometer, oxymeters etc. Immediately aftr that Mr.Satinder pal Singh Ahluwalia spearheaded initiative for Global grant worth over 40Lakhs where we supplied ppe kits,masks, sanitizers etc to Frontline workers. Earlier, we have also helped set up sewing and library facilities in welfare centre of two sanitation workers colonies (Fort, Colaba). The club encourages ladies to take initiatives.

Charity Project Details :

Projects during covid19: The club has done apprx 75 projects ever since covid19 hit India. This despite lockdown or near lockdown conditions. Partial list is as follows: 1.In April2020, our club received an SOS frm St,George’s hospital. It was declared covid19 hospital. The doctors, nurses and other staff were petrified to go near patients. Our club responded wth great speed and raised rupees 4lakhs. The nxt challenge was to source PPE kits, masks , thermal guns ,oxymeters etc as there was huge demand and supply short.We also did not compromise on quality. The project was completed in a matter of weeks. Appreciation letter frm CMO is given below.

Project Aashiana:

This is a district3141 project to construct houses for the very poor in district Palghar. This carried out by govt. And rotary club sponsors houses. Our club supports this program and sponsored one house.
Checkdams:

construction of checkdams in distt palghar is a district3141 initiative. Our club supports this program and has contributed over rupees 1lakh for the same.
